

On 7th February 2012, in an effort to give knowledge on Organ Donation for the Narikurava Community people, MOHAN Foundation contacted Family Life Institute, Mappaedu village for the awareness talk. Mr. Prince Solomon, heading this outreach programme of improving the livelihood of this people gave the work of coordinating the programme to two field-work students.
On that day, only few people had agreed to come for the programme. Transplant Coordinator Mr. Vijay explained the procedures and the concept of Organ Donation to them and also to the relatives who were present in the community, individually.
After the talk, the community people understood the importance of Organ Donation and they pledged for Organ Donation. They were very open-minded and clarified their doubts after the talk.
“I had certain myths about Organ Donation, but after the talk I was very clear and I will educate my fellow community people around me and also whomever I meet”. “Indeed, organs wasted are lives lost”, quoted one of the community ladies.
