  • The Punjab State Red Cross Society organized its annual Blood Donation Camp during the 54th Rose Festival held from February 20-22, in Chandigarh. This year, the camp collaborated with the MOHAN Foundation-SRDF to initiate a special Organ Donation Awareness Drive, aimed at inspiring the community to contribute to saving lives through both organ and blood donation.

The objectives of the two societies were firstly, to spread the word about why organ donation really matters and encourage people to step up and pledge as organ donors. Secondly, highlight life-saving role of blood donation. Besides these, the aim was to make the most of the buzz around the Rose Festival and reach more people.

Various activities were set up to involve the crowd; as awareness standee with stall was arranged where visitors could learn more and clear up misconceptions about organ donation. The flyers on organ donation were shared to spread quick facts and encourage pledges. The pledge form gave people a simple way to sign up as organ donors and their photos were taken with the organ donation standee to help them feel connected to the cause.

The outcome of the three-day drive received an enthusiastic response. Many festival-goers pledged to become organ donors, while a significant number also donated blood at the camp. The mix of a fun cultural event with a humanitarian cause made a strong impact, supporting the mission of the Punjab State Red Cross Society and its collaboration with the MOHAN Foundation-SRDF.

The Organ Donation Awareness Drive, held along with the annual Blood Donation Camp at the Rose Festival 2026 was a meaningful step toward building a healthier and more compassionate society. By linking organ donation awareness with blood donation, the campaign gave people two powerful ways to make a difference. The collaboration between the Punjab State Red Cross Society and MOHAN Foundation-SRDF helped spread the message widely, and the positive response from the community showed that such initiatives can truly bring people together for a greater cause.
