Ms. Bavani Priya. B, intern from the Nazareth College of Arts and Science, Chennai, and an organ donation ambassador created awareness on organ donation Kovilpathagai, Avadi on February 25, 2025. The helpline receives more than 1300 calls a month and caters to queries on eye donation, organ donation and registration and patient-based queries.
She approached multiple shops, local auto drivers talking to the owners about organ donation, and requesting to put up stickers of organ donation helpline. Some shop owners welcomed the cause and some feared due to lack of awareness. She visited over 12 shops, approached 10 auto drivers, educated them and successfully put up 7 helpline stickers on shops and auto rickshaws to promote helpline 1800 103 7100.
