Online Awareness Session on Organ Donation for the NSS Students of St. John’s High School, Sector-26, Chandigarh

  • On 17th December 2020, MOHAN Foundation was invited by NSS Program Officer Ms. Shruti Garg to conduct an online awareness session on organ donation for their NSS students. Approximately 50 NSS students attended the session.

    At the beginning of the session, Ms. Shruti Garg, NSS Program Officer welcomed all the participants and invited Ms. Neha Sharma to begin the session.

    Firstly, Ms. Neha Sharma Katoch introduced herself to the students and started asking students that which organs can be donated while living and India is facing an acute shortage of organ donors and too many people waiting for transplant.

    Students were given an introduction & presentation on how important is organ donation and tissue donation by Ms. Neha Sharma Katoch.

    In this talk she explained the following points: -

    • Organ donation types and who can be a donor
    • The status of organ donation in India and their requirements vs donation rates
    • She challenged 5 myths with 5 facts on organ donation
    • Difference between natural death and brain death
    • Age is not a constraint in donating their organs.
    • Real life stories of an organ transplant being shared with the participants
    • Importance of the donor card
    • To pledge their organs they can register at MOHAN Foundation
    • MOHAN Foundation’s mission & vision

    At the end of the session, Ms. Shruti Garg, NSS Program Officer thanked Ms. Neha and said that session was very informative and encouraged all the participants to pledge for organ donation.
