As requested by Pradnyalaya ‘Society of the Sacred Heart’ of Christian Nun’s on 16th February 2020 MOHAN Foundation and B.J. Medical College conducted an awareness session on organ donation session.
Sister Elizabeth Amputch (Ambuja) introduced Mr Arjun Rathod (Medical Social Worker BJMC) and Pratima Phadatare (Transplant coordinator MOHAN Foundation)
Ms Pratima Phadatare explained the contribution of MOHAN Foundation in the field of Organ Donation past 23 years for the society, it’s objectives and mission. She elaborated the concept of Organ and tissue Donation by explaining the type of death viz. Cardiac and Brain Death and the Organ and tissue that can be donated. Then Mr Arjun Rathod explained the legal back up i.e. THOA act.2011 related to Organ Donation. He also explained about the religious barrier and myths related to organ donation. Mr Arjun Rathod and Ms Pratima Phadatare answered all there queries.
Total 15 Nuns attended the program and were distributed information brochures. About 8 Nuns took pledge & few filled online form.
We are thankful Sister Elizabeth, Ms Jaya Jadhav and all Nuns of Pradnyalaya ‘Society of the sacred Heart’ of Christian nun’s for inviting us and supporting the cause of Organ Donation.
