On November 29, 2023, Ms. Pallavi Kumar, Executive Director, NCR, MOHAN Foundation, was invited as a speaker to the workshop on “cadaveric organ donation and transplantation” organised by PGIMS Rohtak in collaboration with AIIMS, New Delhi, and Medanta the Medicity Hospital, Gurugram. The workshop was well attended by intensivists, neurosurgeons, neurologists, the transplantation team, nursing officers, and laboratory technicians of PGIMS, Rohtak.
Eminent speakers from AIIMS in New Delhi, Medanta Hospital in Gurugram, and other institutions gave excellent presentations on donor organ maintenance, brain stem death: identification and certification, and organ transplantation in India. Ms. Pallavi Kumar spoke on making the “ask” for organ donation (grief counselling) and the legal framework for deceased organ donation in India (Transplantation of Human Organs & Tissues Act 1994).
The participants received the presentation extremely well and appreciated it. The sessions ended with panel discussions. The workshop concluded at 4:30 p.m.
Close to 31 doctors, 34 nursing officers, and 5 laboratory technicians attended the workshop.
