Marriage festivities with a difference

Updated on Tuesday, January 22, 2013
  • "There is no greater happiness for a man than approaching a door at the end of a day knowing someone on the other side of that door is waiting for the sound of his footsteps."

These words became true in the life of Mr. Prakash and Ms. Sonia Gandhi who entered into married life on 18th January 2013 at Thanjavur.  Mr. Prakash, an employee of Wipro Bangalore, is motivated to serve society. He wanted his wedding to be an example for others. Apart from the usual wedding festivities, he wanted to add more meaning to his wedding by spreading the word “organ donation”.  He invited MOHAN Foundation to put up a stall on organ donation.  He and Ms. Sonia Gandhi pledged to be organ donors and thus motivated their family, relatives, friends and well-wishers to come forward for organ/tissue donation.  25 people pledged to donate their organs and tissues and picked-up donor cards. He also invited the Indian Red Cross Society Thanjavur, to set up a blood donation camp at the wedding hall.  About 15 people donated their blood. The couple expressed their thanks by gifting a sapling to everyone who graced their wedding.

We at MOHAN Foundation wish Mr. & Mrs. Prakash, a very happy and prosperous married life.
