On August 20, 2025, MOHAN Foundation organized an awareness programme on organ donation at the Out-Patient Department (OPD) of Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS), Porompat, Imphal-East, Manipur. The session was conducted by Ms. Laishram Monica Devi, Project Coordinator (Northeast) and Project Lead (Manipur), along with Mr. Bidyananda Laishram, Senior Program Executive, and Mrs. Thaudem Mayarani Devi, Program Executive, MOHAN Foundation.
The programme was coordinated by Mr. Gailian Kamei, Transplant Coordinator at JNIMS Hospital, in close collaboration with the MF team.
Mr. Bidyananda introduced MOHAN Foundation and delivered a session on the fundamentals of organ donation, addressing questions such as “What is organ donation?” and “Which vital organs can be donated?”. He explained the differences between living and deceased donation, spoke about cornea and kidney transplantation in Manipur, and dispelled common myths by presenting facts. He also clarified the difference between coma and brain death to help participants develop a clearer understanding. Emphasizing the significance of organ donation, he highlighted the positive impact it creates in society. He concluded by stressing the importance of pledging for organ donation and explaining the process.
Ms. Mayarani distributed Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) on organ donation to all participants for better understanding. Nearly 60 participants attended the session and gained a deeper insight into the subject.
