Updated on Tuesday, February 10, 2015
  • MOHAN Foundation was invited by Mrs. Sowjanya, Dean, Ravindra Bharti School, Madhapur, Hyderabad to conduct an awareness session for their students as a part of their Scientia 2015 - science fest organized on February 08, 2015 (Sunday).

There were about 50 students that participated in the session along with some of the staff members. The students were provided with information brochures, activity reports of MOHAN Foundation and donor cards to be distributed to the visitors of science fest.

Dr. Koti Reddy of MOHAN Foundation gave an exclusive presentation about the importance of deceased organ donation, religious and cultural barriers involved with organ donation & eye donation, benefits of transplantation, T.H.O 1994 Act, concept of brain death and myths surrounding organ donation. The student volunteers later on explained the same to all the visitors and parents that have participated in the science fest. There was a lengthy discussion on the legal aspects and technical difficulties in organ donation and to our surprise there was a comparison done between eye donation and organ donation.

We thank the Principal, Dean and management of Ravindra Bharti School for making this innovative move on getting their students trained on organ donation and the students in turn will spread the information to the general public especially to their parents and visitors during the science fest.

We thank Sri. M. Subramanyam, Chairman, Ravindra Bharti School for permitting us in organizing this event to promote organ donation. We also thank all the student volunteers for their active participation and hope that this event has ignited the young minds on organ donation.
