MOHAN Foundation Organizes an Organ Donation Drive in a City in Maharashtra

  • Mr. Rahul Bhoyar, Manager of Sainath Blood Bank, Nagpur invited MOHAN Foundation on 12th February 2020 to organise an organ donation drive in the city of Warora in Chandrapur district of Maharastra. A stall was put up at the Hanuman Mandir which is visited by many residents of the city.

    The stall was put together with banners, information brochures, donor cards and other promotional material. Mr. Bulu Behera explained following points to visitors:

    • Organ Donation and its importance in saving lives
    • Who can donate and when it is possible to become a donor
    • Law on Donation and Transplantation
    • Difference between Natural Death, Brain Death and Coma
    • Myths related to organ donation
    • Stories of donors from Nagpur
    • Transplant hospitals and tissue banks (Eye & Skin Banks) in Nagpur
    • Importance of Donor card, Helpline number, website, etc.

    The visitors asked the following questions:

    • After death whom to contact for organ donation?
    • What is the time duration for eye donation?
    • Where is the MOHAN Foundation office in Nagpur?

    Around 100 people visited the stall and 18 signed consent forms and collected donor cards. MOHAN Foundation looks forward to such collaborations to spread the message of organ donation far and wide.
