On October 14th, 2011, MOHAN Foundation (Delhi–NCR) participated in a day long Diwali Mela organized by AIRCEL. This is an annual event where various NGOs are invited to showcase their work and promote their cause. This was the first participation of the Foundation in a public event in the North. More than 1000 people visited the stall and took information on organ donation. Close to 400 donor cards were signed up. Public knowledge on organ donation was found to be relatively very low. For many it was completely an alien concept. However, many were enthused by the idea and wanted to learn all the details of how they could be organ donors.
Promotional material like mugs, T-shirts and bookmarks with slogans on organ donation were also displayed at the stall.
A lot more needs to be done in order to make the public aware on organ donation.
