MOHAN Foundation Conducts an Awareness Talk on Organ Donation at Govt. Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 20-D, Chandigarh

  • On 21st December 2018, MOHAN Foundation was invited by the NSS Program Officer Mrs. Parminder Kaur to conduct an awareness talk on Organ Donation for their NSS Students. Approximately 130 students from class 12th and 2 teachers attended the session.

     

    Mrs. Parminder Kaur (NSS Program Officer) addressed the students and gave a brief introduction on Organ Donation to their students.

     

    Firstly, Neha Sharma introduced herself to the students and started asking students that which organs can be donated while living and India is facing an acute shortage of Organ Donors and too many people waiting for transplant.

     

    Students were given an introduction & presentation on how important is Organ donation and tissue donation by Ms. Neha Sharma.

     

    In this talk she explained the following points: -

    • Organ donation types and who can be a donor
    • The status of Organ Donation in India and their requirements vs donation rates
    • She challenged 5 myths with 5 facts on Organ Donation
    • Difference between natural death and brain death
    • Age is not a constraint in donating their organs.
    • Real life stories of an organ transplant being shared with the participants
    • Importance of Donor card
    • To pledge their organs they can register at Mohan Foundation
    • MOHAN Foundation mission & vision

     

    All the students got motivated and convinced to support organ donation. 

    Few questions were asked by the students

    • In which case organ cannot be transplanted?
    • How Liver can be donated?
    • Why is the family so important in case of Organ Donation?

     All the questioned have been answered in the end and they would love to share their wish with their family members. Also, want to raise awareness on Organ Donation.
