On September 23, 2025, MOHAN Foundation, in collaboration with the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal, conducted an awareness talk on organ donation during a Health Camp organized under the program “Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan” at Ibotonsana Higher Secondary School, Imphal.
Representing MOHAN Foundation, Ms. Laishram Monica Devi, Program Coordinator (Northeast) & Project Lead (Manipur), introduced the Foundation and its mission to spread awareness on organ donation and promote a sustainable donation system to save lives.
The Health Camp also featured sessions by RIMS experts on nutrition and mental hygiene, aimed at educating students on holistic well-being. In addition, activities such as a Digital ABHA ID registration drive, yoga sessions to promote mental and physical health, and screening for non-communicable diseases (NCDs) including hypertension, diabetes, and cancer were organized.
In her session, Ms. Monica highlighted the life-saving potential of organ donation, explaining both living and deceased donation, while clarifying critical concepts such as brain death and coma. She drew attention to the significant demand-supply gap in organ transplantation and guided students on how and who can register as donors. By addressing common myths and misconceptions with evidence-based information, she motivated participants to consider pledging their organs, fostering a spirit of altruism within the community.
The talk was attended by nearly 100 students, who left with a deeper understanding of organ donation and its vital role in saving lives.
