  • On October 24, 2025, MOHAN Foundation, in association with the Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS), Porompat, Imphal East, Manipur, conducted an awareness talk on organ donation at the Out-Patient Department (OPD) of JNIMS as part of its ongoing public education initiatives.

The session was led by Mr. Bidyananda Laishram, Program Executive (Senior), and Mr. Victor Rajkumar, Program Executive, MOHAN Foundation, Imphal, and coordinated by Mr. Gailian Kamei, Transplant Coordinator, JNIMS Hospital.

During his address, Mr. Bidyananda introduced the mission and vision of MOHAN Foundation and elaborated on the core concepts of organ donation. He explained what organ donation entails, which organs and tissues can be donated, and the difference between living and deceased donations. He also highlighted ongoing cornea and kidney transplantation activities in Manipur, addressed prevalent myths with factual clarifications, and explained the difference between coma and brain death — helping participants develop a more accurate understanding of the subject.

He further encouraged attendees to pledge as organ donors and guided them through the registration process. Informational leaflets containing Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) on organ donation were distributed to reinforce the session’s key messages.

The programme saw enthusiastic participation from around 60 attendees, who gained valuable insights into the importance and life-saving potential of organ donation.
