MOHAN Foundation Conducts Awareness Talk on Organ Donation at Govt. Model Senior Secondary School Sector-15 Chandigarh

  • On 24th February 2024, MOHAN Foundation was invited by Mrs. Manpreet Kaur NSS Program Officer in Govt. Model Senior Secondary School Sector-15, Chandigarh to conduct an awareness talk on Organ Donation for their NSS Students. Approximately 64 students from class 12th attended the session.

    Ms. Neha Sharma began the session by asking participants what they knew about Organ donation. She then explained the current status of organ donation in India, covering the following topics in detail:

     She explained the following points: -

    • Organ donation types and who can be a donor
    • The status of Organ Donation in India and their requirements vs donation rates
    • She challenged 5 myths with 5 facts on Organ Donation
    • Difference between natural death and brain death
    • Age is not a constraint in donating their organs.
    • Real life stories of an organ transplant being shared with the participants
    • Importance of the Donor card
    • To pledge their organs they can register at MOHAN Foundation

    MOHAN Foundation’s mission & vision

     A short informative film on brain death was also shown and the importance of family consent in the process of organ donation was explained to the students.

     

    All the students got motivated and convinced to support organ donation.  Around 25 donor cards were taken by the students as they liked the cause and want to ask their parents and friends to pledge their organs.
