Awareness Session on Organ Donation conducted at Ravindra Bharathi High School, Kukatpally, Hyderabad

  • On 10th February 2024, an awareness session on Organ Donation was conducted for the students of Ravindra Bharathi School in Kukatpally, Hyderabad .Dr. Bhanu Prakash,Transplant Coordinator, MOHAN Foundation was the key speaker who discussed about organ donation in detail.

    The following topics were addressed during the session :

    • What is organ donation? Who can donate an organ?
    • What is brain death and natural death?
    • After brain death, which organs and tissues can be donated?
    • After natural death, which tissues can be donated, and the necessary conditions?
    • What is the difference between coma and brain death?
    • Is organ donation possible if the patient is in a coma?
    • What is the criteria for living donation?
    • Information regarding body donation and eye donation
    • What are the legal and ethical implications of organ donation?
    • What does the Transplantation of Human Organs Act of 1994 say about organ donation?
    • Role of MOHAN Foundation in organ donation?

    Around 50 students attended the session and  the staff of the school pledged for organ donation
