MOHAN Foundation Conducts Awareness Talk on Organ Donation at Govt. Model Senior Secondary School Kaimbwala Chandigarh, Session -3

  • On 8th August 2025, MOHAN Foundation was invited by Principal Mrs. Neenu Rajvanshi Govt. Model Senior Secondary School Kaimbwala, Chandigarh to conduct an awareness talk on Organ Donation for their Senior Students. Approximately 75 students from class 11th   & 1 teachers attended the session

    Ms. Neha Sharma began the session by asking participants what they knew about Organ donation. She then explained the current status of organ donation in India, covering the following topics in detail:

     She explained the following points: -

    • Organ donation types and who can be a donor
    • The status of Organ Donation in India and their requirements vs donation rates
    • She challenged 5 myths with 5 facts on Organ Donation
    • Difference between natural death and brain death
    • Age is not a constraint in donating their organs.
    • Real life stories of an organ transplant being shared with the participants
    • Importance of the Donor card
    • To pledge their organs they can register at MOHAN Foundation
    • MOHAN Foundation’s mission & vision

     Ms. Neha also explained the process of eye donation. She informed the participants that eye donation is a simple procedure that can be even done at home. She motivated the students to begin with promoting eye donation in their respective areas. She also explained the importance of Donor Card. She said that it acts as an icebreaker for the doctors to initiate conversation with the families of a potential brain-dead person for organ donation if a donor card is found on the deceased person. She informed the audience that a donor card must always be carried as it acts as an identity proof and shows a person’s willingness to donate organs upon death.

     Students were very enthusiastic and asked many queries related to the transplantation process. Participants were highly satisfied and motivated with the noble cause by the MOHAN Foundation.
