On August 21, 2025, MOHAN Foundation conducted an awareness session on organ donation at Kshetrigao Urban Primary Health Centre (UPHC), Imphal-East, Manipur. The session was led by Ms. Laishram Monica Devi, Project Coordinator (Northeast) cum Project Lead (Manipur), along with Mr. Bidyananda Laishram, Senior Program Executive, and Mrs. Thaudem Mayarani Devi, Program Executive, MOHAN Foundation.
Organized as part of the UPHC’s Immunization Programme, the session was held in coordination with Mrs. Premlata, Nurse In-Charge, who actively supported and participated in the programme.
Mr. Bidyananda Laishram introduced the vision and objectives of MOHAN Foundation and engaged participants in an interactive discussion on the fundamentals of organ donation. He explained what organ donation entails, which vital organs can be donated, and its profound impact on saving lives. He also highlighted the distinction between living and deceased donation and clarified the difference between brain death and coma.
He reassured participants that no religion opposes organ donation and addressed prevalent myths and misconceptions with facts. In conclusion, he encouraged everyone present to share the message within their families and communities.
The session was attended by around 12 participants, including children, who received informative pamphlets and gained a clearer understanding of the life-saving potential of organ donation.
