




A Youth Mela was organized at Valluvar Kottam from 24 to 27 January 2013. MOHAN Foundation was invited by the Y I Lead team to put up a stall. The main objective of the Youth Mela was: Lead a healthy life by having healthy life style. There were 40 stalls highlighting different health issues. MOHAN Foundation focused on the following issues.
1. Healthy life style
2. Healthy donor
3. Concepts of Organ Donation.
4. Difference between Brain Death and Coma.
5. Organs can be donated after Natural Death.
6. Organs can be donated after Brain death.
7. Importance of Donor card.
The concepts were explained by using powerpoint presentation, posters and one to one interaction. During the interaction people came with many question like
1. I come from a village where we don’t have equipped hospital, what do I do in that situation?
2. If somebody lives abroad and they want to donate their organs, what they have to do?
3. How to register for Organ Donor?
4. Why don’t you start an office in the district centers of Tamilnadu?
These queries were answered.
Nearly 350 young Indians picked up Donor card and supported the cause of Organ Donation.
Volunteers from Women’s Christian Collage, Chennai helped in the stall.
