Kind hearts at Dover India Pvt. Ltd. organise an awareness talk on organ donation for their employees

  • The Women’s Forum at Dover India Pvt. Ltd. invited MOHAN Foundation on 16 May 2014 to speak about organ donation. This initiative was spearheaded by Ms. Reshmi and Ms. Yamini and supported by Mr. Kulwinder Singh Ratra, their General Manager.  Dr. Hemal Kanvinde of MOHAN Foundation was deputed to take the session.

     

     The session was held in Brahmaputra conference room at their office in  Senneerkuppam, Poonamallee. On the TV screen in the public area of the office – a continuous screening of motivational video was carried out throughout the day. The event was split into two sessions so that all employees could benefit. All 80 employees attended and 40 of them pledged their organs. Some took extra donor cards for their family members also.

     

    The session began with a short and heartfelt welcome speech by the HR Manager Mr.  Rm. Subramanian. Dr. Hemal spoke about the Concepts of Deceased organ donation and included explanations on brain death, types of donations, what, how, when and why of donations. She explained the processes involved in donation, system of organ allocation and the reasons for Tamil Nadu being on top of the charts in deceased organ donation. She gave information on MOHAN Foundation website, training courses and helpline. She requested the company to assist donor family rehabilitation and support programs.

     

     After the session the discussion was on - how to convince the family to give their consent to carry the donor card;  how long does the process of organ donation take;  when does a person know that kidney has failed; does MOHAN Foundation take part in the donation?
