Organ Donation Awareness stall for Dialysis Technologist and Paramedics at MMM Hospital, Chennai

• On 18th May 2014 an organ donation information stall was placed during 9^th Annual Conference of   ‘The Society for Dialysis Technologist and Paramedics’ at 3^rd floor, Main Auditorium, Madras Medical Mission (MMM) Hospital , Chennai.

   

  Mr. Prakash, Transplant Coordinator and Ms. Kavitha, Marketing Coordinator of MOHAN Foundation were deputed to man the stall. The following points were explained to the visitors by one to one interaction.

  • Importance and need of organ donation
  • Difference between Natural Death, Coma and Brain Death
  • Organs and tissues  that can be donated in cardiac death and brain death
  • Eye donation
  • Importance of Donor card
  • TNOS website and Transplant Registry
  • Organ Donation Toll free helpline number and website
  • Transplant Coordinator  - as a  profession and training programme

   

  All the visitors were given information handouts on Transplant Coordinators Training Courses and Organ Donation. Nearly 25 visitors pledged their organs and picked their Donor Card.
