On a fine Sunday morning, many children and parents started arriving at the Raja Rathinam Stadium in Chennai. They were all eager to participate in a Kids Dash for Organ Donation. MOHAN Foundation had organized this event to promote organ donation. The entire team of MOHAN Foundation Chennai was present at the venue in the early hours on March 10, 2024.
Nearly 323 children participated and were accompanied by about 600 parents and other family members enjoyed a fun filled Sunday morning at Rajarathinam stadium, Egmore, Chennai. They were divided into four groups and ran from 50 mts to 800 mts in the stadium. There were games, gifts and free medical and dental check up for the children and parents. Many of them took up the offer for the check up.
Leos Studio started with a warm up exercise and Zumba for the children and Ms Simran of Share Life NGO conducted the morning's proceedings. The chief guests were Mr Rohit Toshniwal, Director Toshniwal Instruments and Lion J. Pareenatharan and Dr Mrs K. Indira.
Special guests for the event were Ms Shaharshini (12) and Master Dinesh Kumar (9) and Mr Hariharan (21) who got a second life through transplants. Each child got a crown and a sash depicting they had conquered a life altering diagnosis. The parents spoke of the story of the child before and after transplant. Their stories inspired many parents to support the cause.
Sports teachers from Jai Gopal Garodia Schools ably supported the event by conducting all the category runs smoothly and safely. Student volunteers from CTTE college and Stella Maris College assisted them in the run. After the run each child was presented with a medal and a certificate.
