On February 6, 2026 – An impactful organ donation awareness session was successfully conducted at Telangana Model School and College, Palamakula, Shamshabad. The initiative was led by Project Manager Venkatesh Kattela under the guidance of MOHAN Foundation, with the objective of educating young students about the life-saving significance of organ donation.
Despite challenges such as space constraints and transportation issues, the programme was executed smoothly. Engaging awareness sessions were conducted for students of Grades 7 and 8 in the school laboratory, reaching over 200 students and faculty members.
The sessions were highly interactive and informative, covering key aspects such as:
• Meaning and types of organ donation
• Difference between brain death and cardiac arrest
• Overview of the transplantation process
• Possible side effects after transplantation
• Importance of donor cards
• Addressing myths and misconceptions
A particularly touching moment during the session was when the Principal shared a personal story about a family member who had donated organs. This heartfelt experience deeply resonated with the students and added emotional strength to the programme.
The students’ curiosity was truly encouraging. They raised thoughtful questions about the transplantation process and possible side effects after transplantation, making the session lively and enriching.
I am pleased to report that many participants expressed their willingness to donate organs by raising their hands during the pledge segment. Notably, six participants formally pledged their organs. The enthusiastic support of the Principal and teachers played a crucial role in the success of the programme.
The successful session at Telangana Model School and College, Palamakula highlights the importance of sustained awareness initiatives led by committed professionals like Mr. Venkatesh Kattela, fostering a socially responsible generation dedicated to saving lives through organ donation.
