On the celebration of Joy of Giving, MOHAN Foundation was invited by Hewlett-Packard (HP) solutions Pvt. Ltd, Olympia Tech Park, Guindy, Chennai to conduct an awareness talk for their staff on 21.05.2015. Mr. Viswanath at HP took initiative for the event. A collage of movie clips and info graphics on organ donation was on display at the entrance lobby for the employees a day before the event, and a teaser on organ donation was sent to all the employees, to make them understand the basics of Organ Donation.
Ms. Kavitha S, Marketing Coordinator, MOHAN Foundation was deputed to address the gathering. There were totally 160 participants who attended the programme. There were 7 continuous sessions starting from 10:00 am to 08:00pm . Ms. Kavitha concentrated on the following topics: Concepts of Organ Donation, Types of Donors, Organs that can be donated after natural and brain death, Importance of Donor Card, Statistics of organ donation for Tamil Nadu, Toll free helpline number, Tamil Nadu organ registry.
She ended her talk by sharing few real stories, by which the whole group was moved. After that a recipient speech was also screened to understand the value of the donation. Following that, many people raised question related to legal and ethics, authenticity of organ sharing etc. All the queries were answered by the coordinator. Totally 120 employees signed as an organ donor.
Mr. Viswanath made a request to conduct same programme to other set of HP solution employees at TRIL, Thoraipakkam, Chennai.
