There are many small-scale industries working with marginal income. Mr Ganesh C. Marketing Coordinator, MOHAN Foundation found one of such, and saw an opportunity to promote helpline number through them. At Athipattu, Chennai, 3 homemakers together make incense sticks to support their families. They don’t give much importance to the brand under which they market their products and use the boxes bought at Parry’s Corner, Chennai to pack and sell their incense sticks.
Mr Ganesh approached them and gave awareness on Organ Donation and effective usage of Organ Donation Helpline 1800 103 7100. Then he requested their permission to place a small sticker on the incense sticks boxes, containing information on organ donation helpline and without any secondary thoughts they all readily agreed to it.
With the support of LIC Housing Finance Limited the stickers were printed and given to the 3 entrepreneurs, Mr. Ganesh and a volunteer supported with sticking the Helpline awareness stickers. These boxes are sold in rural parts of Nagari, Andhra Pradesh. As first batch 800 incense sticks boxes were dispatched for sale on June 28, 2022 and monthly over 1750 - 2500 boxes are sold.
