On 22 June 2026, an eye donation awareness session was conducted at Rural Hospital, Palghar by Mr. Ravi Pawar from the MOHAN Foundation. The programme was organized to educate the general public, patients, attendants, and hospital staff about the importance of eye donation and its life-changing impact on individuals suffering from corneal blindness.

During the session, participants were informed about the significance of eye donation, the causes of corneal blindness, and how donated corneas can help restore vision. The discussion covered various aspects of eye donation, including eligibility criteria, the ideal time for eye retrieval after death, the eye donation process, and the legal and ethical guidelines involved. Common myths and misconceptions related to eye donation were also addressed to encourage greater public acceptance and participation.

The session was conducted in an interactive manner, allowing participants to ask questions and clarify their doubts. Emphasis was placed on the importance of discussing eye donation with family members and making a pledge to donate eyes as a noble act that can give the gift of sight to two individuals after death.

Approximately 40 participants attended the awareness programme and actively participated throughout the session. As a positive outcome of the initiative, one individual voluntarily pledged to donate their eyes, reflecting the effectiveness of the awareness programme in motivating people to support this humanitarian cause.

MOHAN Foundation extends its sincere gratitude to the Medical Officer, healthcare staff, and the management of Rural Hospital, Palghar for their valuable support and cooperation in successfully organizing the eye donation awareness session.
