Awareness talk on Organ Donation at BHEL, Nagpur

    Mr. B. Swain General Manager of the company was informed about the work of MOHAN Foundation by an associate Mr. Mayur Gurjar of BHEL. He invited Dr. Ravi Wankhede to deliver an awareness talk for the staff on 2 July 2018. Mr. Mayur Gurjar Sr. Executive (HR) welcomed Dr. Ravi Wankhede and Mr. B. Swain by offering a bouquet of flowers.

    Dr. Ravi Wankhede gave an insight about the subject in a comprehensive manner. He stressed the importance of organ donation from living donors as well as after death. He explained the concept of brain death which could result in helping eight people get a life saving organ. He explained through PPP the subject and its importance including its need, religious misconception, social aspects etc. 24 employees attended the session and 2 of them signed consent form and took donor cards. After the talk Dr. Ravi Wankhede interacted with the employees who raised the following queries:

    1) Why is organ transplant so costly?

    2) What is the process for body donation?

    3) Does the government give any special facility to donor family? 

    Mr. Bulu Behera Transplant coordinator was present and helped distribute the pamphlets. He guided the participants to sign pledge forms and also distributed organ donor cards.
