On December 23, 2023, MOHAN Foundation was invited to the 3rd round of the Health Camp held at the Primary Health Centre (PHC), Andro, Manipur, which was jointly conducted in association with the Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS), Imphal, as a part of the Ayushman Bhava campaign. Ms. Laishram Monica Devi, Programme Officer, and Ms. Thoidingjam Udayini Khuman, Transplant Coordinator, represented MOHAN Foundation.
The programme included health check-ups, laboratory testing, the distribution of medicines, and raising awareness about organ donation. The Accredited Social Health Activist (ASHA) workers coordinated the team and made the necessary arrangements for the programme.
Ms. Monica spoke on organ donation as a part of the programme. She began the session by introducing the MOHAN Foundation, its goals, and its objectives. She talked about the importance of organ donation and its social responsibilities. She also emphasised which organs and tissues can be donated in cases of circulatory and brain death. She highlighted the story of deceased organ donations in Manipur. She also stressed the importance of obtaining the family's consent from the participants.
Later, Ms. Udayini summarised the urgent need in this field, encouraging the public to take the call after discussion with family, friends, and colleagues.
An information desk for organ donation was set up where frequently asked questions (FAQs) on organ donation in the local language were displayed and distributed for better understanding of the topic.
Close to 30 people attended the session, and 13 visited the information desk.
