Awareness Talk on Organ Donation at Red Cross - Punjab, Chandigarh - Session 121

  • On 10th July2018, MOHAN FOUNDATION was invited by the Secretary, Red Cross – Punjab, Chandigarh to conduct an awareness talk on organ donation for their First Aid Students at Vivekanand Bhavan, Chandigarh. Around 56participants from various parts of Punjab, Haryana & Chandigarh college students, patient care attendants, home nursing, nannies and bus conductors participated in the program.

     

    Mr Santosh Kumar, State Training Supervisor addressed the gathering and gave a brief introduction on organ donation to the participants.

    Firstly, Ms. AakritiNegi introduced herself to the participants and after that she asked the questions from participants to check their knowledge about organ donation and transplantation.

    Participants were given the presentation on organ donation and Brain Death by Ms. AakritiNegi.

    In this talk she explained the following points: -

    •      Organ donation types and who can be a donor
    • The status of Organ Donation in India and their requirements vs donation rates
    •      She challenged 5 myths with 5 facts on Organ Donation
    • Difference between natural death and brain death
    • Age is not a constraint in donating their organs.
    •   Real life stories of an organ transplant being shared with the participants
    • Importance of Donor card
    • How to pledge their organs  and register at MOHANFoundation

    The entire group got motivated and convinced to support organ donation and they would love to share their wish with their families. Six donor cards were picked up by the participants after the presentation.
