Awareness Talk on Organ Donation at Maseena Hospital, Byculla

  • On 5th October 2018, MOHAN Foundation Mumbai was invited at Maseena Hospital to conduct an awareness talk on Organ Donation on occasion of completing 1st Anniversary of Skin bank.

    The session was started by Dr. Abhyankar explaining about the journey of Burns Unit from the year 1976 and how far they come since their 1st donation in the year 1986 by late Mrs. Rukshmani Gangi Dedhia.  Dr. Abhyankar also explained that with the help of the NGOs support they get a lot of skin donations, which are helpful in aiding the needy people. Then after warda he introduced MOHAN Foundation and gave the opportunity to Mrs.Jigisha Yadav to elaborate on the topic of Organ Donation.

     Mrs. Jigisha Yadav started her talk byintroducing MOHAN Foundation, its mission, vision and history. She also explained the concept of organ donation was introduced, types of organs and tissues that can be donated, types of death, the concept of brain death, difference between brain death and comma. She also discussed the various myths and facts related to organ donation. She then informed about organ allocation, and distribution process.

    There were 80 staff members. Some of them took the pledge. We thanks Dr. Vispi Jokhi (M.S) and Ms. Charudatt ( Social worker) and Dr. Abhyanker for inviting us and supporting the cause of Organ Donation.
