MOHAN Foundation was invited by Mr. Guru Teja, Vice chairperson, Mr. M.V. Rao to conduct an awareness program on organ donation in collaboration with their organization.
On 28th May 2025, a complete Organ Donation Awareness Talk was held at Kachavani Singaram Gram Panchayat of Ghatkesar Mandal in the Medchal-Malkajgiri district of Telangana. The program was arranged in association with Hyderabad Youth Assembly, and its coordination was carried out by Mr. Guru Teja, Vice Chairperson. The event commenced in the early hours and was held using an offline-interactive approach, wherein the participation of young community members was encouraged.
The awareness program was conducted by Dr. Bhanu Prakash and Mr. Venkatesh, who provided detailed insights on several aspects of organ donation.
Dr. Bhanu Prakash covered the aspects of organ donation, such as its definition and importance, issues of ethics, how to obtain and use donor cards, distinctions across cardiac and brain death, and consent mechanisms. Through engagement, questions from the audience were welcomed, and misconceptions about organ donation were dispelled.
Around 60 people pledged to donate their organs on-site-the other commendable display of community spirit. Another 15 people donated blood.
Mr. Tungathurthi Ravi, President of the Peerzadiguda Constituency Congress Party, graced the event with his presence and even pledged to donate his organs and display his donor card. He appreciated the efforts of the MOHAN Foundation in promoting organ donation awareness.
