Awareness Talk on Organ Donation at Ethiraj College

  • Ethiraj College for Women, was established in 1948 with a commitment to provide quality education to women with a strong emphasis on values and tradition and with the singular mission of empowering women. On the request of MOHAN Foundation Ethiraj College Community Service Club (CSS) organized an Awareness on Organ Donation on October 12, 2022. The event was held in their Auditorium for 700 members of the club. Dr. Hemal Kanvinde (Quality Assurance Officer) and Ms. Arshiya Fathima H (Helpline Counselor) were the resource persons. The CSS had organized an oratory and poster competition prior to this  event. 

    The officer bearers of the club started with prayer and welcome address. Dr. Hemal was invited to  distribute the prize for oratory and poster competition winners. Prize winners delivered their speeches. 

     Ms. Arshiya Fathima H started the session with quiz based on movies that had a theme on Organ Donation. There was a huge response from students and they were able to answer all the questions. Through the quiz the students were made to understand some of the myths that are propagated through  movies and TV serials. 

     Concepts of Organ Donation were explained by Dr. Hemal Kanvinde. She spoke of Brain Death, Eye, Skin and Voluntary Body Donation. She explained the ways of pledging and starting a conversation with families about the pledge. This was followed by a recipient  speech. 

    Mrs. Radhika.A and Sri Vidhya. G (Faculty Coordinator’s of CSS Club) felicitated the resources persons with small gift and MOHAN Foundation gifted a book on Transplant stories to Mrs. Radhika. The session ended with a Vote of Thanks and with National Anthem.
