Mr. Babu, a member of the Youth Wing of DMK, Thiruvallur District, organized a Blood Donation camp and an Awareness Stall on Organ Donation at Poondi. They invited Cadaver Transplantation Programme (CTP) of Tamil Nadu, situated in the Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital (RGGH) to give a talk on the Concepts of Brain Death and set up an information stall on Organ Donation on 28th February 2013.
Mr. M. Issac, Transplant Coordinator of MOHAN Foundation went on behalf of CTP and explained the following topics to the participants:
All the participants were excited to visit the stall and showed their support for Organ Donation by picking up Donor Cards. They also raised few queries like:
1. I am 65 years old. Can I sign up a donor card?
2. Will my family get any benefit, if I donate my organs?
3. What if my family doesn’t give concern to my wish, while I am declared Brain Death?
The queries were answered. Nearly 120 picked up donor cards and promised to spread this information to their family members and friends. Mr. M. Issac interacted with the DMK cadres gathered there and informed them about Organ Donation and the activities of MOHAN Foundation.
