Awareness Session on Organ Donation conducted at Dhruva College of Management, Shamirpet, Hyderabad

  • On 14th February 2024, an awareness session on Organ Donation was conducted for the Management students of Dhruva College of Management in Shamirpet, Hyderabad. The session was conducted in association with Mr. Ramaswamy who was the professor in the college a few years ago and wanted to sensitise the students on organ donation. Ms. Srividya S, Project Manager, MOHAN Foundation was the key speaker who discussed in detail the key concepts of organ donation.

    The following topics were addressed during the session:

    • What is organ donation? Who can donate an organ?
    • What is brain death and natural death?
    • After brain death, which organs and tissues can be donated?
    • After natural death, which tissues can be donated, and the necessary conditions?
    • What is the difference between coma and brain death?
    • Is organ donation possible if the patient is in a coma?
    • What is the criteria for living donation?
    • Information regarding body donation and eye donation
    • What are the legal and ethical implications of organ donation?
    • What does the Transplantation of Human Organs Act of 1994 say about organ donation?
    • Role of MOHAN Foundation in organ donation?

     

    Around 40 students attended the session and pledged for organ donation
