On April 10, 2026, MOHAN Foundation conducted an awareness session on organ donation at Red Fort International Public School, Rishikesh. The session was organized at the invitation of the school’s Vice Principal, Mr. Devendra Kumar Bisth.
Mr. Arun Sharma, Program Executive, MF, served as the resource speaker for the session, and was joined by Mr. Sanchit Arora, Project Leader – MOHAN Foundation, posted at AIIMS Rishikesh. The program was attended by students and staff of the school.
Mr. Arun actively engaged the students by encouraging them to share their existing knowledge about organ donation and then built upon their responses by elaborating on key topics, including the concept and importance of organ donation, eligibility criteria for donors, differences between living and deceased donation, organ donation during life and after death, the concept of brain death and how it differs from coma, eye and skin donation along with corneal preservation after death, the Transplantation of Human Organs & Tissues Act (THOTA), 1994, living kidney transplantation services available at AIIMS Rishikesh, common myths and facts related to organ donation, ways individuals can contribute to this noble cause, and the goals and objectives of MOHAN Foundation along with the Anudaan initiative.
Mr. Arun concluded the session by highlighting the urgent need for organ donation in India and encouraged the students and staff to discuss the subject with their families, friends, and colleagues before deciding to pledge.
Following the session, all students and staff took a pledge, led by Mr. Amit Gandhi, a faculty member of the school, to donate their organs and spread awareness about the cause.
The program ended with students applauding the efforts of MOHAN Foundation and expressing their willingness to speak with their families about pledging their organs.
The session was attended by nearly 500 participants.
