Awareness Session on Organ Donation Conducted at Wat Thai Vihar, Pratap Nagar, Nagpur

  • On May 1, 2026, MOHAN Foundation, Nagpur conducted an Organ Donation Awareness Session at Wat Thai Vihar, Pratap Nagar, Nagpur with the objective of spreading awareness about organ donation and encouraging community participation in this life-saving cause.

    On behalf of MOHAN Foundation, Mrs. Veena Wathore and Ms. Neha Sailwar facilitated the session.

    Mrs. Veena Wathore began the session with a motivating and inspiring real-life story of Shreya’s hand transplant, which created a positive and emotional connection with the participants. She then shared detailed information on:

    • What is organ donation
    • Difference between brain stem death and cardiac (circulatory) death
    • Legal aspects of organ donation under the Transplantation of Human Organs and Tissues Act (THOTA)
    • Eligibility and criteria for organ donation
    • Age limit and suitability for organ donation

    The session helped participants understand the importance of organ donation and clarified several common misconceptions.

    Following this, Ms. Neha Sailwar distributed MOHAN Foundation brochures and provided information regarding the organ donation pledge process. She guided participants on how individuals can register as organ donors and encouraged them to spread awareness within their families and communities.

    Around 35 participants attended the session. The awareness program was informative and impactful, contributing to increased understanding and positive engagement toward organ donation among the community members. MOHAN foundation thanked Mr. Naresh Lokhande, Pounima Lokhsnde, Ajay Meshram & Alka Meshram for giving the opportunity to conduct the session.
