On 14 May 2026, an eye donation awareness session was successfully conducted at Sub District Hospital Dahanu, Palghar. The session was attended by approximately 60 participants, including hospital visitors, patients, caregivers, and members of the local community.
The session was conducted by Mr. Ravi Pawar from MOHAN Foundation with the objective of creating awareness about the importance of eye donation and its vital role in restoring vision for individuals suffering from corneal blindness. Participants were provided with detailed information regarding the eye donation process, eligibility criteria, and the importance of timely eye donation after death.
During the session, important topics related to eye donation were discussed, including the benefits of eye donation, common myths and misconceptions, and the process of corneal retrieval and transplantation. Participants were informed that eye donation is a noble act that can provide the gift of sight to individuals suffering from corneal blindness and help improve their quality of life.
The session encouraged active participation from attendees, who raised questions and clarified doubts related to eye donation. Participants showed interest in understanding how one eye donor can help restore vision and positively impact the lives of visually impaired individuals. Awareness was also created regarding the importance of discussing eye donation decisions with family members to ensure timely consent.
