Awareness Session conducted at Durga Mata Mandir Gorewada, Nagpur

  • On 17th October 2021, MOHAN Foundation in association with Transplants – Help the Poor Foundation conducted an Awareness Session on organ donation for public awareness at Durga Mata Mandir Gorewada, Nagpur. It was organized by Mr. Dinesh Pandey (Coordinator of Durga Mata Mandir) and conducted by Ms. Prarthana Dwivedi (Transplant Coordinator) in the occasion of Sindhoor Daan festival.

    Ms. Prarthana Dwivedi introduced Mohan foundation by stating that, MOHAN is an acronym for 'Multi Organ Harvesting Aid Network'. Then she spoke about what organs a live donor can donate in case of an emergency to save the life of a family member or a loved one. She then elaborated about the different types of death viz. Cardiac & brain death and what organs & tissues can be donated in each case. The concept of Brain death was introduced and the causes of brain death were explained. She also explained the difference between coma and brain dead.

    About 108 participants attended the talk  & the brochures containing information about organ donation were also distributed. About 45 took the pledge to be an Organ Donor.
