The first Arogya Sahitya Sammelan of Maharashtra was successfully organized at Bal Gandharva Rang Mandir on October 19, 2025.
The event was graced by the esteemed presence of Dr. Ravindra Kolhe and Mrs. Smita Kolhe, widely respected for their remarkable contributions to rural healthcare and social welfare.
Organized in collaboration with Sassoon General Hospital and the MOHAN Foundation, the Sammelan aimed to raise public awareness about organ and tissue (eye) donation. Through engaging sessions, interactive discussions, and awareness activities, the team highlighted the critical role of organ and tissue donation in saving and transforming lives.
A significant outcome of the event was that 47 participants voluntarily pledged to donate their organs and eyes, demonstrating an encouraging level of awareness and compassion within the community. Informative materials and guidance were also provided to help attendees understand the donation process, eligibility, and the profound humanitarian impact of organ and tissue donation.
The MOHAN Foundation team, along with representatives from Sassoon General Hospital, played an active role in counseling participants and addressing their queries regarding organ and eye donation. Their efforts contributed to fostering a deeper sense of social responsibility among attendees.
Overall, the program was a resounding success, marking an important step toward enhancing public health awareness and promoting the noble act of organ and tissue donation across Maharashtra.
