On December 12, 2024, the MOHAN Foundation conducted an organ donation awareness program for elderly people, organized by the Jyeshtha Nagrik Sangh. Around 60 participants attended, and 10 individuals pledged to donate their organs.
Ms. Sakshi led the session, explaining the concept of organ donation and highlighting the vital role of the MOHAN Foundation in promoting this cause. She discussed the need for organ donations, clarified the concept of brain death, and explained the difference between brain death and coma. The session also covered tissue and voluntary body donation, while addressing common myths and misconceptions about organ donation.
Ms. Prarthana provided further information on the services available through the Organ Donation Helpline (1800 103 7100). Afterward, she explained eye and whole body donation in detail, emphasizing the beauty of giving the gift of sight after death. She encouraged attendees to consider eye donation, as it can help those in need, while reminding them that after death, the tissues would otherwise be buried.
The program successfully raised awareness and encouraged many to think about the importance of organ donation.
