On December 1, 2024, the MOHAN Foundation organized an organ donation awareness program at St. Thomas Church, Goregaon East. Ms. Jaya conducted the morning sessions, where she explained the concept of organ donation, including details about cardiac death and brain death. She held three sessions during different church masses in Hindi, English, and Tamil.
In the evening, Ms. Sakshi led the session in Marathi, discussing who can donate organs, why organ donation is important, and shared relevant statistics. She also answered questions from the attendees like
1. Whether there is an age limit for eye and skin donation
2. If the individuals can donate kidneys to people they know or if the government decides?
A total of nearly 500 people attended the sessions throughout the day, and 12 people pledged to donate their organs. The program successfully raised awareness and encouraged more individuals to consider organ donation.
