On April 24, 2026, MOHAN Foundation organized an awareness program on organ donation at Sipai Para, a Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous Council (TTAADC) village in West Tripura. The event coincided with a Gram Sabha hosted by the village committee.
MOHAN Foundation was represented by Mr. Vincent Debbarma, Project Lead, Tripura, and Ms. Nipa Modak, Program Executive.
Mr. Biswajit Debbarma, an Organ Donation Ambassador from Tripura, supported the coordination and organization of the event.
The program began around 1:30 PM with a welcome address and brief introduction by Ms. Sukini Debbarma, the village chairman. This was followed by a short welcome speech from the panchayat secretary, after which Mr. Biswajit introduced the MOHAN Foundation staff to the attendees.
Ms. Modak led the main session, providing detailed information on various aspects of organ donation and transplantation. She covered the significance of organ donation, the process involved, common misconceptions, and its life-saving impact on patients awaiting transplants. Her presentation was informative and accessible, helping participants grasp the topic's importance.
The program was highly interactive, with villagers actively asking questions and seeking clarifications. Their enthusiasm highlighted a genuine interest in the subject, and the open discussion helped dispel doubts while fostering positive attitudes toward organ donation. Leaflets were distributed to all participants at the end of the session, offering key information they could reference later and share within the community.
Mr. Vincent then interacted with attendees to gauge the program's effectiveness. He posed questions on the session's topics to assess understanding and retention. It was encouraging to see that most participants had stayed attentive and answered correctly, showing a strong grasp of the key messages.
The chairman, Ms. Sukini, and panchayat members expressed heartfelt gratitude to MOHAN Foundation for this vital awareness initiative. They noted its relevance and urgency, and the event concluded positively, with community members willing to support and promote organ donation awareness.
The program engaged 37 community members in a meaningful and impactful event.
