On October 14, 2025, MOHAN Foundation, in collaboration with ILS Nursing Institute, organized an awareness program on organ donation at the ILS Hospital campus, New Secretariat, Agartala, West Tripura. The session was designed for students of ANM, GNM, and B.Sc. Nursing courses, as well as the teaching faculty of the institute.
Mr. Vincent Debbarma (Project Lead, Tripura) and Ms. Nipa Modak (Program Executive, Tripura) represented MOHAN Foundation during the program.
The session commenced at 4:30 PM in the main hall of the ILS Nursing Institute. The Principal of the institute inaugurated the event with a warm welcome and emphasized the importance of creating awareness about organ donation among healthcare professionals. She appreciated MOHAN Foundation’s efforts in spreading knowledge on this vital subject and highlighted how understanding organ donation is essential for all healthcare providers.
Following the introduction, Mr. Vincent and Ms. Nipa addressed the attendees and initiated the awareness session through a PowerPoint presentation. Mr. Vincent provided an overview of MOHAN Foundation and its mission, discussed the concept and significance of organ donation, and elaborated on the types of donors and the organs and tissues that can be donated. He also explained the differences between brain death and coma, along with the process of corneal donation. The presentation further covered key provisions of the Transplantation of Human Organs and Tissues Act (THOTA), 1994. Informational leaflets on organ donation were distributed among all participants.
An interactive question-and-answer segment followed, where students and faculty members actively participated, clearing doubts and sharing their perspectives. The session also aimed to dispel common myths and misconceptions surrounding organ donation, reassuring attendees about the stringent medical and ethical practices governing the donation and transplantation process.
A total of 140 participants, including nursing students and faculty members, attended the session and expressed appreciation for the initiative.
