An Awareness Programme on Organ Donation at T S Narayanasami Arts & Science, College Navlur

  • On 12th August 2015, T S Narayanasami Arts & Science, College Department of Biochemistry, Navalur, Chennai conducted an awareness programme for their students on Organ Donation. Mrs. T. Lalithasree, Assistant Professor invited MOHAN Foundation to give an awareness talk on Organ Donation. The programme was held in the college auditorium with a welcome address by the           R. Gayathri Principal and she explained the importance of event and encouraged the students to support the noble cause.

    Mr. Prakash K. Transplant Coordinator, MOHAN Foundation facilitated and spoke about the Concepts of Organ Donation.

    The following topics were covered in his talk:

    • Activities of MOHAN Foundation across the family
    • Importance of Donor card 
    • Tissues and organs  that can be donated
    • Helpline Number
    • Country to strengthen the Deceased Organ Donation programme
    • Types of Organ Donation - Live and Deceased Donation
    • Difference between Brain death and Coma
    • Importance of the consent from
    • Few short films were shown

    The queries asked by the students and staff were – How to go about for eye donation, where to register for kidney transplantation and in case of death whom to contact for tissue donation. Totally 20 staff and 150 students participated and supported the noble cause and all of them took donor cards.
