Agriculture Officers learn about Organ Donation

  • In association with the Vasantrao Naik Agriculture Extension and Management Training Institute (VANAMATI), MOHAN Foundation organized an awareness programme for the trainee Agriculture Officers who had come from all over Maharashtra. The event was held on 4th February 2020 at the institute premises at Dharampeth, Nagpur

    Dr. Ravi Wankhede, Director of MOHAN Foundation, Nagpur conducted the session. Following a brief interaction with the officers, Dr. Wankhede, with the help of a PowerPoint presentation explained the concepts of brain death and organ donation. He spoke on the following topics:

    • Types of death
    • Brain death
    • Organ and tissue donation – during life and after death
    • Registration process to pledge organs
    • Organ donation rates – national and international
    • Using MOHAN Foundation’s website and helpline number

    Questions asked by the participants included:

    • How frequently can blood be donated?
    • After death who is the right person to sign the consent form for donation?
    • What is the difference between coma and brain death?
    • What is the lifespan of a recipient after organ transplant? 

    Around 45 trainees were present at the session and 4 of them signed consent forms to donate organs and received donor cards. One of the participants thanked Dr. Ravi Wankhede and the audience. MOHAN Foundation is thankful to VANAMATI for supporting the cause.
