Adarsh High School, Wani celebrates World Organ Donation Day

  • On 13th August 2021, on the occasion of World Organ Donation Day, MOHAN Foundation in association with Transplants – Help The Poor Foundation held an awareness session on organ donation at Adarsh High School, Wani for teaching staff.

    Organ Donation session was arranged in coordination with Mr Dinesh Sahu who is the Associate NCC Officers (ANO) of Adarsh High School also displayed NCC cadets March in honour of the Organ Donors.

    Ms Prarthana introduced MOHAN Foundation and Transplants – Help The Poor Foundation. She asked about the organ donation to the teachers who expressed a mixed reaction. She explained the concepts of organ Donation, why and when transplantation is required and about various organs that can be donated, types of donors, types of death, with viability of organs after retrieval. She also explained the difference between Brain death and Cardiac Death.

    She also elaborated the Transplantation of Human Organs Act, and discussed about the myths and misconceptions related to organ donation. She also briefed about Skin donation, Eye donation, Organ donation and Body donation.

    Teachers asked the following were a few questions asked:

    • How to register as an organ donor ?
    • Difference between body donation and organ donation ?
    • Can old age person donate their skin?

    Ms Prarthana answered all the queries promptly. The session which began around 1:30 pm was attended by 45 teaching staff.
