On April 24, 2026, an organ donation pledging drive event was organised at St. Francis Xavier Church, Chicalim, Goa, on the occasion of the 50th birthday of Rev. Fr. Bolmax Pereira. A week before his birthday, Fr. Bolmax had invited Mr Gabriel Pereira, an Organ Donation Ambassador from the MOHAN Foundation, to address the parishioners on the importance and concept of organ donation. Notably, he had earlier conducted a similar awareness session during the novenas for the parish patron Saint, St Francis Xavier, in November.
As part of marking this significant milestone of completing 50 years, Fr. Bolmax made a personal decision to pledge his organs. He encouraged the parishioners to join him in this noble cause, stating that the second half of his life would be dedicated to giving others a new lease on life through organ donation.
On the day of the celebration, held after 7:00 a.m. Holy Mass, Mr Pereira was present to interact with parishioners. He distributed organ donation pledge cards and shared informative flyers addressing frequently asked questions about organ donation. He engaged with many individuals, clarifying doubts and encouraging participation. A total of 27 parishioners pledged to donate organs by taking the donor card during the event. Some among them had already registered their pledge through the organization’s website.
At the conclusion of the session, Mr. Gabriel expressed his gratitude to Fr. Bolmax Pereira for the invitation and for taking the initiative to promote organ donations among the parish community. He also appreciated the parishioners' positive response and willingness to support this life-saving cause.
