Young cadets learn about Organ Donation at their camp

  • On 26th June,2017 MOHAN Foundation was invited for an awareness talk on Organ Donation at NCC Camp held at Pachaiyappa’s College for Men, Kanchipuram. About 510 NCC Cadets and officials attended the program. Ms. Ann Alex, Mr. Siva Shankar T. S. and Ms. Stina B Manjila represented MOHAN Foundation.

    Mr. Siva Shankar TS started with a Q&A session. He spoke about the various organs in the human body, organs that can be donated before and after death, concept of brain death, time limit within which the organs needed to be transplanted etc. Some students volunteered to come up and speak about their understanding on Organ Donation. The questions raised were:

    1.Can we survive with one kidney?

    2.Can brain be donated?

    After the talk, the students were divided into groups for activities. They were given activities like Poster Presentation, Slogan Writing, Poem writing and Skits on Organ Donation. The students came up with fantastic posters, slogans and poems. One of the groups performed a skit on Heart Donation and the satisfaction it brings about in the Donor’s family. The posters were on the concepts of eye donation, blood donation and not to waste organs after death. One of the poems spoke about the commercial dealings of organs.

    All the activities were given marks and feedbacks the NCC officers who acted as the judges. Four teams were selected as the best by the judges and were gifted with badges on Organ Donation.
