Organ Donation Awareness Talk at Venuvan Vihar Buddhist Society, Nagpur

  • Venuvan Vihar a Buddhist Society at Narendra Nagar, Nagpur, organized an Organ Donation awareness workshop on 31th December 2017.  Society member Mr. Tejraj invited MOHAN Foundation to speak on the importance of Organ donation to save another life. Dr. Ravi Wankhede, Director, MOHAN Foundation and Secretary, Zonal transplant co-ordination Centre (ZTCC), Nagpur, was the resource person.

    Devotees of the Venuvan Vihar attended the session.  Dr. Wankhede provided detailed information about brain death and the different situation under which organ donation is possible. He said India is lagging behind in organ donation mainly because of lack of awareness and wrong beliefs. He also explained the role of ZTCC for allocation of organs. Mr. Bulu Behera, Transplant coordinator of MOHAN Foundation distributed consent form and information brochures.

    The session ended with interactive session with the society members. 30 devotees came for the session & 2 of them signed the consent form and collected their donor cards.
