Matru Sewa Sangh Institute of Social Work celebrates Republic Day with a talk on organ donation

  • On Republic Day, 26th January 2017 MOHAN Foundation was invited by Dr. Keshav Walke, NSS Program officer of  Matru Sewa Sangh Institute of Social Work, Bajaj Nagar,Nagpur, to conduct an awareness session on Deceased  Organ Donation for students and staffs.

    Mr.Bulu Behera delivered a talk on Organ Donation. In his talk he explained the following points:-

    • What is Organ Donation and the Law?
    • Who can donate organs?
    • Types of organ donation.
    • Brain Death Natural Death and Coma.
    • Myths related to Organ donation.
    • Deceased donation cases in Nagpur.
    • Kidney transplant hospitals in Nagpur.
    • Importance of Donor card, Helpline number and website.
    • Priority list of Organ failure patients.

    It was a very interactive session. 50 students and staff were present at the talk. 12 students signed consent form and took a donor card.

     The students asked the following questions:-

    1) What is the fee for Organ Transplant Coordinator training?

    2) If any family wants to donate heart but heart transplant does not happen in Nagpur, then how is it possible?

    3) What is the difference between Coma and Brain death?
